The Angel Hotel Guildford High Street. The Angel Posting House & Livery has records dating back to the 16th Century and was built on the site of Whitefriars Monastery in 1527. A ‘Posting House’ is where coaches could rest or exchange their horses between London and the Naval port of Portsmouth. (March 2008)
